It is always fun to go and learn new things and to hear others validate what you do in your day to day life/job. I went to lots of workshops/sessions that gave me ideas of how to help my own children and the children in the Firefly class grow, learn, help themselves, have fun, and lots of other things.
Let me just start by saying that messes are fun and we believe in getting dirty. How do you know that your children had fun? The first indicator for me is how they look. Dirt on their clothes, face, hands, etc... tells me they had a good/fun day.
One of the sessions that I went to was presented by Lisa Murphy otherwise known as The Ooey Gooey Lady. Lots of fun and messy ideas. We are called babysitters more often than one would like. She also has this to say to her parents(it puts things into perspective) After she has sat down with new parents(be it a new baby or a growing one)to her center, she asked them for keys to their house and cars. The parents would look at her and say no way. We don't know/trust you. To which she would say you have just decided to leave your child with me for 8 to 10 hours a day. The parents start to understand.
